Montecito

Just west of the community of Summerland and east of the City of Santa Barbara is the community of Montecito consisting primarily of high-value custom luxury homes on relatively large lots. Montecito is home to many historic architecturally significant estates, many with ocean views nestled among well manicured landscaping as well as old-growth natural vegetation. The famous architect, George Washington Smith, well-known for his Spanish Colonial Revival architecture from the early 20th century, designed several notable residences in the area.

The beaches are among the very best along the Central Coast. Butterfly Beach is home to the historic Biltmore Hotel as well as the exclusive and private club known as the Coral Casino. Miramar Beach is nestled between two picturesque natural points and is also home to the newly built Rosewood Miramar Beach Hotel and very tasteful luxury resort developed by Rick Caruso. There are two main commercial areas, the Upper and Lower Village areas. Both are tasteful and low-key featuring fine dining, art galleries, clothing boutiques and various local businesses.
